Weekend Walkers Group Walks
Looking for your next walk? Here you’ll find upcoming walks from Midlife and Weekend Walkers groups around Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area, with plenty of opportunities to explore the Chilterns and further afield with other sociable walkers.
These groups are generally aimed at people in their 40s, 50s and a little beyond, with most walks taking place at weekends. Once you’re a Ramblers member, you can also walk with any Ramblers group in Britain, so you’re not limited to your nearest group.
If you’re in your 20s, 30s or early 40s, explore our list of nearby Young Walkers group walks, including us, CYW. Many towns also have local Ramblers groups open to all ages, with walks throughout the week.
Oxon Weekend Walkers
A friendly bunch of walkers in the midst of our working lives, who like to get out and walk at weekends with members mostly in their 40s and 50s, although anyone of any age is welcome! They aim to have a walk every Sunday, with the occasional Saturday walk, and Friday evening walks in the summer. Walks are typically 8-10 miles although this varies widely, and we walk all over Oxfordshire.
Capital Walkers
If you want to keep fit, make friends, and escape the city into the lovely countryside around London, or you want to explore the capital's historic streetscapes and parks, then Capital Walkers is for you. The group is aimed at people aged 40+, but everyone is welcome whatever their age. All walks start and end within easy reach of public transport.
Herts Weekend Walkers
HWW for short, normally walk on a Saturday afternoon in and around the county of Hertfordshire and sometimes outside the county boundaries. Most HWW members are of working age or are busy early retirees who only find time to get outside and enjoy a walk at the weekend; however, everyone is welcome. The group also enjoys some socialising after walks and occasionally organises trips and holidays to other parts of the country.
Surrey and Beyond Ramblers (SABRE)
Surrey and Beyond Ramblers (SABRE) is one of a new generation of Ramblers groups, challenging the traditional images of walking. Our mission is to encourage people of any age to get out and hike all over Surrey - and beyond - at the weekend and mid-week. Our membership is mainly drawn from Surrey, South West London and the surrounding counties. The SABRE walks programme has a choice of walks each week including in Surrey and surrounding areas especially Hampshire, South Downs, Sussex, Kent and the Chilterns. Typically, we have around 10 - 15 people on each walk, come rain or shine. In our programme you'll find everything from short, easy strolls of a few miles up to energetic and challenging 18-mile hikes, and plenty of walks around 10-12 miles each Saturday. We often organise social events and walking holidays and mini-breaks around the UK.
Chilterns Weekend Walkers
Regular weekend walks together with an active social calendar. Our walks are usually between 5 and 12 miles and are mostly located in the picturesque Chiltern Hills stretching from the River Thames in the West right across to Hertfordshire. We guarantee you great scenery with the odd steep hill thrown in too. Our main age group tends to be walkers in their 40s or 50s, we welcome walkers of whatever age.
