Midlife & Weekend Walking Groups for 40s, 50s & beyond

Sociable Walking Groups for 40s,  50s and beyond

Looking for a walking group with people at a similar stage of life? As well as Young Walkers groups like Chiltern Young Walkers, Midlife Hiking and Weekend Walking groups are aimed mainly at people in their 40s, 50s and beyond, combining regular walks with a friendly, sociable atmosphere.

Many of these groups grew from the success of Young Ramblers groups, as walkers reaching their 40s wanted to keep the same mix of weekend hiking, friendship, socials and trips away. Others were created for people in the middle of their working lives who simply have more time to walk at weekends.

 Why this page exists

It isn’t always easy to find walking groups for people in their 40s and 50s using the main Ramblers group finder. There is no age filter, and unless you already know about Weekend Walkers and similar groups, they can be difficult to discover.

This page brings together Ramblers groups that actively attract midlife walkers, making it easier to find groups where many members are in their 40s, 50s and a bit beyond. Groups are included where their membership has a significant proportion of people in this age range, not only because walks take place at weekends.Age ranges are usually a guide rather than a strict cut-off, so it’s worth finding the group whose walks and social scene suit you best, and once you’re a Ramblers member, you can walk with any Ramblers group nationwide.
