We hold regular social events and also organise weekends away throughout the year. A great way to get to know other members better, without the walking boots!
Social Hiking and Weekends Away
Our walks are a great way to socialise and meet people while exploring the Chilterns together. A day out walking gives you hours to chat, laugh and get to know each other along the way, often with a pub or café at the end to continue the conversation.
Our weekends away take things a little further, combining great walks with evenings together, time to relax and the chance to explore somewhere new. They’re a sociable way to spend more time with the group.
More Than Walking
There’s plenty more going on beyond our weekend walks, with lots of ways to meet people, try something different and spend time together. Join us for board game evenings, comedy nights, pub socials and CYW Trail Tales, our walking-themed book club where we discuss titles inspired by nature, travel, and adventure. We also mix things up with film nights, meals out, quizzes, or trips to local events and festivals.
Most socials take place in or near Aylesbury, High Wycombe and Hemel Hempstead. They’re relaxed, informal and all about having fun. There’s no need to have been on walks before joining in and they're a chance to leave the hiking gear at home!
Whether you’re new to CYW or a regular walker, our walks, weekends away and social events are an easy, welcoming ways to get involved, see familiar faces and make friends along the way.
You can find details of our future social events on our meetup page. Our socials are organised by members, with Nadia helping to coordinate them. If you’re a CYW member with an idea for a social you’d like to organise, get in touch with Nadia.
