Our Walks

When do we walk?

We walk every Weekend with a mixture of half day leisurely walks between five and seven miles, more moderate walks of around ten miles and occasionally something longer. During the summer we enjoy the light evenings with weekday evening walks too. We plan our walks programme every four months starting in April, August and December.

Where do we walk?

Along the footpaths and bridleways of the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, West Hertfordshire and West Middlesex. Our walks include the open countryside, farmland, ancient woodland, hilltop views and picturesque villages the area is known for. We often start from Ashridge, Wendover, Marlow, Great Missenden, Amersham and surrounding areas. We usually return to a local pub or cafe at the end of the walk for drinks.

What about breaks and food?

You will also need to bring water, a couple of 500ml bottles even in winter and a few snacks or lunch for a longer walk.

Does it cost anything to walk with us?

It is free to attend our walks. When you have enjoyed three walks and want to keep coming, you should Join the group and become a member of the Ramblers.

A change of scenery?

We also organise weekends away throughout the year. These include everything from seaside trips to long distance trails and mountain hikes. Recent weekends have included the Cornish Coast, Shropshire Hills, The Lake District and Snowdonia. Upcoming weekends away

Who leads our walks?

All walks are led by members of the Group. Any member can volunteer to lead a walk, if you have not led before you could attend one of our informal training events or buddy up with a more experienced leader.
