New Members

Now that you've found us, come and join us on one of our events. Whether you come on a walk or a social event, it goes without saying that you can expect a warm welcome. If you haven't walked for a while, don't be shy and come to one of our introductory walks which are ideal for new walkers.

New people are welcome on all walks and roughly once a month we have an introductory walk. These walks are generally shorter and often feature beautiful landscapes or a traditional pub en route and give you the opportunity to ask questions about the group. Existing members are welcome to attend and make potential members feel welcome. Why not join us on our next introductory walk.

Join one of our walks or socials!

There's nothing complicated about the way our group is run. If you want to attend any of our walks and most of our social events all you need to do is turn up at the time and place described. The only events you need to book for are some socials and all weekend trips. Come along to a few different events to try us for free before you decide to join and you will see some familiar faces and meet new people each time.

Details of our next several walks are on our Upcoming Walks page. If you are a new member or just trying us out, please ask here to join our email list. All our walks are led by members and the group is run by an elected committee of volunteers, feel free to ask them a question.

What will I need to bring / wear on a walk?

What you need will depend on the length of the walk, the season, and the weather as you will be outdoors for a few hours. A lot of common sense applies. For example, a sun hat in the summer and a warm jacket hat, gloves and waterproofs on a cold, wet and windy February day.

You will need a pair of walking boots or trainers. Boots are better on longer walks and in the winter when things are wet and muddy, although common sense applies in the unpredictable British Summer too.

You will also need to bring water, a couple of 500ml bottles even in winter and a few snacks or lunch for a longer walk.
